Social Media Revolution 3

Erik Qualman has updated his "Socialnomics" video for 2011. There is no doubt that social media has influenced our lives by changing the way we interact with people and the way we conduct business and Qualman's videos continue to remind us of the power of social media.

Please watch the video below and check out the Socialnomics website and a funny video created by Qualman entitled, "How Social Media Saved Valentines Day."

  1. Thanks for the video, I can use this in trainings.
I loved the statement, "Social media is about relationships....all the other stuff....and finally, people." That's where we need to focus, people and our relationships with them. How much of a true relationship can be built if the people involved never meet or talk? Can true relationships be built with only what we learn of each other through chatting/instant messaging? Can we believe the words on the computer screen without any other context to hook them to? It takes work and trust to build and keep such a relationship (friendship). Because there is very little to make the bond deep and meaningful it can be easily broken for some, harder for others. I guess for some of us over 30 it's hard to let only technology(social media) be our tool of communication, our tool of trust. Some of us still want that eye contact, that intonation of voice, that body language to help us build relationships: professionally and personally.
